Post contributed by Leonard Phelps
Every winter brings about scary, cold weather that we don’t always enjoy, so imagine what it looks and feels like to your pets. Following a few safety tips can ensure that you are doing all you can to keep your pets as safe as they can be during this cold season.
One of the most dangerous time for dog owners in the winter can be walk time. Every dog needs to take that walk to burn excess energy and use that patch of grass, but there are a few things to remember to make the walk a safe one. First thing to do is to remember to set theADT Home Security deals alarm to keep the home safe while you are away, and grab a leash so that you can keep your dog close to you on the walk at all times. Once home from the walk, remember to wipe down your dogs fur and feet to make sure they are not laying down with a cold layer of ice still attached to them causing them harm. There can also be chemicals and salt on their paws from the walk since these are put down on icy streets to help us not fall, and this can be dangerous if they lick their paws. Wipe and clean each paw, and rub down their fur if it happen to be raining or snowing while on the walk.
This tip can help not only keep you safe, but your pet during a much needed walk in the winter time. Every animal wants to get out, even in the worst of weather, and this makes sure they can still go out and be safe when they get home.
